Mavies was born in the Northern Region of Philipines, raised on Oahu and grew up in Northern California. He’s currently a California Certified Massage Therapist and is Licensed with the Nevada State Board of Massage Therapy. His clients range from weekend warriors, those with Active & Physical Lifestyles, Demanding Jobs to Professional Athletes!
As a child he intently watched his Great Grandmother incorporate Holistic Medicine, by gathering roots, and foraging for herbs to use in her salves (mainly homemade coconut oil) for the traditional Pilipino massage “ilot”. Depending who came in to see her for reasons of alleviating symptoms of “na tami” (witchcraft), “nablo” (injuries), or simply calming the central nervous system while assisting neighboring villagers perform child labor, as a Dula!
January 2013, Mavies started his training at Nevada School of Massage Therapy, Las Vegas Campus, now currently known as Cortiva Institute. With amazing insturctors and collegues, he finished the Professional Program. He still had questions of why muscles reacted the way they do, so he decided to stay for the Master Bodyworker Program. Mavies graduated with 1036 education hours to the Nevada Board of Massage Therapy’s minimum of 500 then. Mavies continues his education with many famous Orthopedic, Medical Massage & Sports educators
June 2015, Mavies decided to register for a live AMTA Education event at Mandalay Bay. That day he swore into oath with the Nevada Chapter, as 2nd Vice President, Since his term ended, he ran for President.
He continues to serve as President, Secretary, a Member of the Financial Administrator Committee, Committee Chair of Student Outreach, member of Government Relations. You may find Mavies at various Community Service Venues around town, which may include; CandleLighters – Childhood Cancer of Nevada & American Cancer Society – Relay for Life.
Being with the AMTA-NV Chapter, helped create an ethical and professional base for his career. He is well respected with Leaders in the massage industry and also acts as a Mentor to those who decide to excel in the industry and a liason to get any questions answered!
Mavies’ other passion is food. He was classically trained in San Francisco at the Prestigious California Culinary Academy.
He traveled to work in famous kitchens across the United States. Places as Lodi, California; San Francisco, California; Waikiki, Hawaii; Weekapaug. Rhode Island and of course, Las Vegas, Nevada.
While working as a Chef, he managed to work on his own making pastries, tiered cakes, catering private events and helping out at his parent’s farm, where he hand sowed seeds into the earth, irrigated crops, harvested, and prepared the vegetables for Farmer’s Markets throughout the Bay Area.
